Housing affordability and lifestyle upgrade in regional areas is drawing homeowners out of the city to live according to the 1 February 2021 article in The Urban Developer by Taryn Paris which cites research by Corelogic . This is combined with the increased remote working arrangements that have remained due to ongoing lockdowns and a greater acceptance of this workplace flexibility as the norm.
Corlogic’s Research Director Tim Lawless is quoted:
“Internal migration data shows more people are leaving Sydney and Melbourne for regional areas, resulting in a transition of activity from the metro regions to the outer fringe and regional markets.”
The article also states that mortgage rates are likely to remain at record lows for the foreseeable future, with little chance of a rate rise this year.
The move is on but there is so much to regional Australia that there are many places to consider. Take your pick!
