With iconic Australian artists such as filmmaker Charles Chauvel (look up the 1940 film 40,000 horsemen) and poet Judith Wright (as in the Judith Wright Centre in Brisbane) both spending time here and inspired by the region, the Scenic Rim is a place rich in arts and culture.
Today encompassing a thriving arts and cultural movement, the region has cultural centres in Beaudesert and Boonah as well as art galleries in Tamborine Mountain, Boonah, Aratula, and also Beaudesert and Boonah. The galleries have regular exhibitions by visiting and local artists.
Latest release, foreign and art-house films are screened weekly in Beaudesert and Boonah and Tamborine Mountain has regular film screenings (think bring-a-pillow, tea & coffee and classic raffle) as well as a film club.
The council also offers free and low-cost school holiday activities, across the region. The program features movies, dance classes, cooking classes, art classes and library activities.
