Although parts of the region are just tucked in behind the Gold Coast (about a 40 minute drive from Mount Tamborine) and Brisbane is only 100km away, the Scenic Rim covers a big area in South East Queensland. Towns include Tamborine Mountain, Canungra, Lamington, Beechmont, Moogerah, Beaudesert, Aratula, Barney, Darling, Boonah, Harrisville, Kalbar, Kooralbyn and Rathdowney.
The land is rich with the region known for its great abundance. One of the main events is ‘Eat Local’ which covers a week of activities promoting paddock to plate along with local wines and beers. Currently restricted because of COVID-19, the local producers turned the event into a Eat Local Farm Box home delivery.
Part of the volcanic area known as the Green Cauldron, the region has lush landscape featuring six National Parks. Bush walking, camping and waterfalls just some of the things to do and see.
There is also an established tourism industry with farm stays, bed and breakfasts, galleries, events, restaurants, cafes, creative industry shopping and health and wellness centres.
The area is over an hour from Brisbane, half an hour from Ipswich and 50 minutes from the Gold Coast by car. Connection to the city is on the airport line from the Gold Coast.
